With a similar early start to the day of coffee, breakfast, devotion and prayer, we once again headed out to the Ngwenya Village. Our first stop was at a more formal government school, Ngwenya Primary School.
We were welcomed by the principle, taken for a tour and then invited to come and teach some classes a few days later. Poverty is still evident even though this is a government school.
In this very small school there are currently 988 students!!! Some classes have over 60 students and very little resources.
Not all of the children are able to bring food to school, so when it comes time to eat, the kids with no food are sent out to go play while those with food can eat!
The children were highly respectful and listened when their teacher spoke.
Onto more village ministry with Amy and Kirstin praying for a child.
Pastor Nick engaging with a child while others pray for a lady with a mental condition.
The children were intrigued by us, which gave a good opportunity to engage with them.
We headed back home, had lunch and then back to the fields for day 2 of the soccer and netball clinics.
The passion the children had for sport was very evident.
The main meeting point under the "Big Tree".
Sorting the teams out more or less by age group.
The local skills being demonstrated.
The locals played barefoot over the stony and thorny ground.
A time of teaching.
Score keeping.
Fun in the sun wearing a chitenge, which is an essential peace of clothing for women in order to preserve modesty in Zambia, especially in rural areas. A chitenge is a piece of cloth, 2 meters in length that women wrap around their body. The width of the cloth is long enough to cover you more or less from your waist to your ankles
Having fun!
