The dawn of a big day! Tournament and Feeding Time.
Early morning at our campsite.
Ready for action at the soccer and netball tournament.
One of the netball teams lining up.
It was super competitive, especially with a cash prize and trophy at stake for the winning team.
The senior boys playing the in the soccer final.
The feeding scheme has a huge impact and is one of the highlights of the trip. The number of people who will come is unknown and this time there were over 600!
The children were grouped off per age group so that we could ensure that everyone received a meal in an orderly way.
The meal consisted of nshima (pap), sauce, a cabbage salad, a quarter of a sausage, half an egg and a slice of orange. There were no complaints and the meal was really appreciated as some do not know what or when they will eat next.
Many did not even have a plate, so we provided what plates we could while the rest use anything that could be used as a plate.
The need seemed endless and eventually once the food had run out, we provided those left with 3 eggs each. Everyone got something.
We started off with the young children and finished off with the young mothers.
Young girls looking after infant siblings was noticeable. Seems to be due to the parents passing away for one reason or another.
The children heading back after receiving a meal.
