Day 9 - Farm Work: Install Solar pump, Pat's House Foundation

While some went back to Ngwenya Primary School to teach a lesson, the rest of us got down to hard labour. We concentrated on 3 areas:

  • Extending the goat pen as there are now too many goats for the existing pen.
  • Laying down foundations for Patrick's house
  • Installing a new solar powered borehole pump so that the farming operations could be extended.

The Pastors doing the finishing touch to the borehole slab.

The two 290W solar panels being installed on the frame.

And finally water! It was a race for time to have it installed before the sun set to ensure we had some water for the night. It was now late afternoon.

We were treated by the Samba family to a wonderful local meal of nshima, sauce, chicken and cabbage salad. It was really tasty and everyone enjoyed it. The hospitality over our entire time on the farm was truly amazing and humbling. The Samba family are a real blessing and reflect Christ in so many ways.

Another beautiful African sunset.

Our final night before heading back home. We had a special time of devotion, praying for each other and fellowship with everyone we worked with during the past week.
